APRA Request The Department of Children, Youth And Families adheres to the Access to Public Records Act (APRA) (RI § 38-2-1) and has instituted policies and procedures for the public to obtain public records. The purpose of APRA is to balance the public’s right to access with an individual’s right to privacy. Its stated purpose is to: “…facilitate public access to governmental records which pertain to the policy making functions of public bodies and/or are relevant to the public health, safety, and welfare…” [RIGL § 38-2-1.] To learn more about making an APRA request, please read DCYF’s procedures for making a request.
